MARITIME ENGLISH
IMO, as per reference to SOLAS Convention, Chapter 5 and the STCW 78/95 Convention and Code, amended in Manila 2010, has explicitly set out requirements for English Language competence as a working language used on board of the commercial vessels. The course syllabus covers the mandatory minimum requirements prescribed in Section A- II/4 of STCW’95.
Duration of Course: 3 days
Attendance: Minimum 4 trainees per day.
The course objectives: Trainees who successfully complete the course will be able to demonstrate the required minimum standard of competence set out in STCW’95:
- Part B-VI/1 to teach basic maritime English;
- Develop trainees ability to use English to lower intermediate language level;
- Improve trainees competence in English;
- Prepare trainees for developing the full knowledge, understanding and proficiency in English required by STCW 1995 Code.
